Cases are essentially storage containers for a variety of different objects. They can be used to hold tiny objects like washers or very large industrial objects like dust collecting systems. Cases come in many different sizes and shapes and are created from many different materials. Some cases are soft in nature, while others have a hard outer shell and a soft inner layer. Yet some other cases are hard both in the inner compartment and on the outer shell. Cases can be watertight or airtight. They can be calibrated to contain sensitive instruments, or attached to wheels for easy travel.

The outer covering of cases is often subjected to processes like anodizing to strengthen it. Additionally, it can undergo electro plating for the same purpose. Some companies offer custom designed molded plastic carrying cases for medical equipment, musical instruments, portable computers, safety equipment, and a host of other objects and materials. When searching for a custom designed case, it is essential to communicate your needs to the manufacturer to ensure the case is build to your specifications.

Cases are, for the most part, storage or protection solutions. For example, ovens are enclosed in cases to protect the user from harm. Similarly, pressure transducers can be enclosed in cases to protect them and the user. Deciding where to store items or how to protect items are important choices for most people. This is, perhaps, why there are so many types of cases. The most essential part of design is convenience and use. It is also important to decide if the case requires assembly or installation. Recycling should also be considered. When the case has reached the end of its usefulness, it should be environmental friendly in terms of disposal. The right cases for the right products can be an excellent storage solution for both homeowners and industries.
