Hydraulic presses are used to perform various processes, and can normally be stopped at any point during the processes when taking proper safety precautions, and practicing careful operation skills. It is essential to use caution and be aware of safety procedures when operating hydraulic presses.

General machine guards should be provided to the operator of the hydraulic presses to protect them from possible hazard caused by sharp edges or points. These machine guards are designed to keep sharp edges of metal, and like material, that is being fed into the hydraulic presses, from injuring the operator or any employees near the hydraulic presses at the time of operation. These guards cannot cause additional threats of hazard themselves, and must be attached to the hydraulic presses when it is possible for connection to be made. The operator must also use special hand tools to keep their hands away from the point of operation, and always be careful when operating.

There are some additional safety precautions and measures that should be taken to insure careful operation of hydraulic presses. When operating hydraulic presses, operating controls should always be sited away from the die area. If there is a foot pedal control that is being used to operate the hydraulic presses, it must be guarded. Not only that, but an emergency stop button, and a main power disconnecter switch, should both be made easily assessable to the operator of the hydraulic presses, to use at any time they feel necessary during operation.

There are many uses for hydraulic presses, and they can be extremely safe and effective if proper safety precautions are taken, and careful operation skills are displayed. Following proper safety regulations will decrease the risk of hazard to the operator of the hydraulic presses, and anyone near the hydraulic presses during operation.
