Tube fittings refer to any number of connective fixtures used to transfer various fluid components. Tube fittings are generally used with systems designed to transfer substances through straight sections that are outfitted with special joints and connectors. Common types of tube fittings include nickel- and chrome-plated fittings used for corrosion resistance or to provide aesthetic finishes. Tube fittings are also commonly used in the food and beverage industry, where specific fittings are designed and manufactured to work with food products that demand a specific grade and sanitary conditions. Other tube fittings, such as pre-insulated fittings, are designed to be used in home construction insulating materials. Tube fittings are also widely used in the automotive, pharmaceutical, electronic, refrigerant, hydraulic, and biomedical industries.

Common types of tube fittings include elbow fittings, connectors, adapters, expansion joint coupling fittings, push-in, nipple, plug, gland, and bulkhead fittings, among countless others. Swivel or rotating fittings are also widely used. Tube fitting suppliers are capable of designing and constructing tube fittings for use in almost any kind of application. The most basic specifications to consider in the preliminary stages of designing tube fittings include material type, tube size, and port size.

Tube fittings are most commonly constructed out of metals, especially aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, alloy and stainless steel, although they may also be constructed out of plastics. The type of material used to construct a fitting is entirely dependent on its application. Sizes of tube fittings can be designed to work with almost any specification. Common tube fitting sizes include English, metric, and fractional sizes. Metric sizes range between 1 m to 42 mm, and sometimes larger. English sizes refer to those fittings that range in size from 1/16 inch to 12 inches. Tube fitting sizes can be based either on the interior or exterior diameter.
