Engineering & Consulting info:

Engineering has long been the keystone for designing and implementing materials, machines, and processes in a scientific fashion. Whether developing new devices or reorganizing existing systems, today’s industrial engineers are crucial to the manufacturing process. With the added assistance of computer technology, such as CAD software or CAM programming tools, modern engineers can evaluate, interpret, build, and test designs with greater efficiency than ever before. They can identify the technical limitations of a given object, system, or process, and provide recommendations as to safety, cost, specifications, and servicing.

Consulting is the similar practice of providing professional advice to a person, company, or group. There are numerous forms of consulting, each with its own type of clientele. In some cases, consultants are needed to offer guidance, whereas other situations call for more assertive measures to help improve work efficiency. Consultants may improve a workforce’s productivity through motivation and feedback, or by skill training and other educational methods.

Chemical Analysis
Use of Scanning Electron Microscopy and Optical Emission Spectrometry for performing surface analysis, chemical analysis, and imaging on a variety of materials is described in this paper. It includes a graphical representation of a sample EDS spectrum and images of a scanning electron microscope and optical emission spectrometer. The process of...
Corrosion Investigation
Specialized corrosion investigations and analytical techniques offered by MTi that are used to identify corrosion mechanisms as well as to determine the suitability of materials for specific conditions are detailed in this paper, which includes 3 examples of metal corrosion testing. Identification of micro-biologically influenced corrosion is...
Defect Investigation - Metal Testing
Stating that metal defects can be introduced at several stages of processing during manufacturing, this paper covers the equipment, training and advanced metal testing capabilities offered by Metallurgical Technologies, Inc. to identify the individual step in the process in which the defect occurred and to give recommendations to prevent future...
Failure Analysis - Forensic Engineering: Analysis of a Leaking Diesel Engine Manifold
This paper illustrates the forensic failure analysis of a pressure tested diesel engine manifold that exhibited a pinhole defect. An image showing the pinhole leak defect in the manifold and a close-up image of the pinhole defect are provided, along with a close-up view of a small cross-section through the pinhole, revealing the two significant...
