A U-NUT is a threaded fastener with a side profile generally in the shape of a ′′U′′ with the lower leg having a locating retainer. These parts are available in a wide range of thread sizes either single or multi-thread.

Advantages of a U-NUT

  • Single piece construction from high carbon spring steel prevents separation of threaded nut from retainer legs.
  • Austempered generally in a range of H′′V′′446-513 (Rockwell 45-50).
  • Self retaining feature allows for one hand assembly.
  • Free floating characteristics allow self alignment with bolt.
  • Lighter, stronger, more reliable, less expensive than other types of fasteners.
  • Provided in sizes 4mm-12mm. English unit also available.
  • Prevailing torque (locking feature) can be incorporated into the threaded sleeve.
  • Can be used on plastic panels.
  • Performance Class 9 is standard with Class 10 availability.

  • A J-NUT is a threaded fastener with a side profile generally in the shape of a ′′J′′. Similar to a U-NUT with a shorter lower leg, these parts are available in either single or multi-thread.

    Advantages of a J-NUT

  • Single piece construction from high carbon spring steel prevents separation of threaded nut from retainer legs.
  • Austempered generally in a range of H′′V′′446-513 (Rockwell 45-50).
  • Self retaining feature allows for one hand assembly.
  • Free floating characteristics allow self alignment with bolt.
  • Lighter, stronger, more reliable, less expensive than other types of fasteners.
  • Provided in sizes from 4mm-12mm. English units also available.
  • Prevailing torque (locking feature) can be incorporated into the threaded sleeve.
  • Can be used on plastic panels.
  • Performance Class 9 is standard with Class 10 availability.
  • High Strength Nut Plates
Nut Plates are offered in three types of attachment methods: Weld-in-place, Tab-in-place and Snap-in-place. Some of the major benefits of utilizing our multiple-sleeve nut plates are; weight reduction, improved strength, added structural integrity and lower total assembly costs.

    Advantages of a Nut Plates

  • Light weight - as low as 1/5th the weight of conventional anchor plates.
  • Can act as body panel reinforcements.
  • Proof load performance substantially higher than conventional design.
  • Free floating characteristics available for self alignment with bolt if desired.
  • Self retention features available for easy assembly.
  • Pre-tapped, thereby eliminating expensive thread cutting screws.
  • Prevailing torque (locking feature) can be incorporated into the threaded sleeve.
  • Mid Panel Nuts
ITW CIP produces a wide variety of clips configured in varying and unique designs. Clips are used in applications that do not require the strength of a multi threaded fastener.

Advantages of a Mid Panel Nuts

  • Austempered generally H′′V′′446-513 (Rockwell 45-50).
  • Lighter, stronger, more reliable, less expensive than other types of fasteners.
  • Can be used on plastic panels.
  • Self retention features available for easy assembly.
  • Full multi or single threaded systems.
  • PacNut®
Pac Nuts are laminated lock nuts designed to internally deflect as torque is applied. This deflection or spring loading occurs below and through the bolt stretch or elastic range, adding to the bolt′s capability to maintain preload. Preload maintenance is fundamental to preventing joint loosening.

    Advantages of a PacNut®

  • Joint loosening prevention - The internal deflection of the conical laminations in the nut result in a reduction of hole size or pitch diameter eliminating designed clearance between the nut and bolt. This also produces mechanical pressure to the flanks of both male and female threads. The spring pressure and mechanical interference results in locking or resistance to loosening.
  • Torque/Tension - Solid nuts characteristically concentrate the majority of loading at the bottom one and one half to two threads. This eccentric loading causes the nut to dilate and increases friction in the highly loaded thread contact area. This results in increased torque/tension. Torque/tension relationships with the Pac Nut are maintained through controlled spring deflection, resulting in uniform thread loading form bottom to top of nut.
  • Pac Nut laminations are specifically designed with varied thickness and crowned configuration of the laminations bottom to top to allow equal thread load distribution.
  • POP NUT™ Tooling
