Box Furnaces
Thermo Transfer offers a wide range of box furnaces from a single front opening door, to a car bottom, double door and or a walk in furnace. Product loads are placed in the furnace through a single front opening door.

The box furnace is a process batch furnace which is designed for many uses like; Aging, Baking, Curing, Drying, Pre-Heating, Stress Relieving, Tempering.

This furnace design can use air and or special atmosphere like; endothermic, exothermic, nitrogen (molecular sieve) and or dissociated ammonia gas generators.
Heating systems can be electrically heated, direct open fired or indirect fuel fired using Natural Gas or Propane.
  • High capacity circulation blower for excellent uniformity

  • Wide operating range from 300 Deg F TO 2,000 Deg F to meet most heat processing requirements.

  • Effective insulation to reduce heat losses, faster heat up time and very low maintenance.

  • Skid mounted units pre-tested in our shop prior to shipping.
Roller Hearth Furnaces
The roller hearth furnace conveys the work directly on the hearth rollers. Work can also be processed in baskets or on trays which are conveyed on the rollers. Quench systems and cooling systems can also be provided.

Furnaces can be designed for use with or without atmosphere. Heating systems can be direct open fired, indirect fuel fired or electrically heated. Furnaces can be lined with refractory or with ceramic fiber depending on the application.

Steel rods and pipes are mainly heat-treated using roller hearth furnaces. The high temperature consistency and low energy consumption of these furnaces, normally gas-fired, ensure reproducible quality and short treatment times.
Mesh Belt Furnaces
Continuous mesh-belt furnaces are used for hardening, annealing, tempering, and as ovens. Parts are set directly on the belt and generally require no trays or fixtures. Quench systems and cooling chambers can also be provided. Furnaces can be designed for use with or without atmosphere.
  • Standard capacities from 100 lbs/hr to 6,000 lbs/hr

  • Continuous production
  • Superior part quality capabilities
  • Proven field reliability
  • Maximum fuel efficiency

Processes available include sintering, clean hardening, light case carburizing & carbonitriding, austempering, and martempering. Mesh belt lines are completely automated heat treating systems that include loading systems, washers, hardening furnace, quench, temper, soluble oil tanks and atmosphere generators.

IQ Furnaces (Internal Quench)
The Standard TTI batch Integral Quench furnaces are designed for processes such as annealing, carburizing, clean hardening and carbonitriding.
Each furnace is equipped with a variable drive recirculating fan to conserve energy.
Thermo Transfer also manufactures auxiliary equipment to be used in an Integral Quench furnace line. This equipment includes draw furnaces, spray/dunk washers, charge cars, scissor-lift tables and endothermic generators. Custom designed units available to fit your exact needs, as well as the standard size units shown below.

Standard Features:
  • Heavy duty gas tight welded cylindrical casing construction.

  • The circular flow path provides uniform atmosphere circulation over the work as well as radiant tubes, ensuring superior temperature uniformity and carburizing rates.

  • Horizontally sidewall mounted :′U′′ type alloy radiant tubes
  • Burners and recuperator mounted to the backwall of the furnace for ease of maintenance, burner check ups and cooler ambient.
  • Plug type alloy fan with atmosphere inlet into the housing to assure uniform atmosphere distribution.
  • Dual roller rail hearth for standard size tray.
  • A stiff chain transfer mechanism is provided to automatically transfer the load to and from the furnace chamber.
  • All motions are interlocked and designed for full automation of the cycle.
  • The inner door, outer door and quench elevator are pneumatically operated.
  • High volume agitators and internal baffles provide excellent quenchant flow.
  • Double deck elevator to permit loading when one tray is being quenched.
The casing of the furnace is cylindrical in shape and provides the following unique features.
  • The circular flow path provides uniform atmosphere circulation over the work as well as the radiant tubes, ensuring superior temperature uniformity and carburizing rates.

  • The round casing is structurally stronger than conventional square casing and is less susceptible to warping and distortion.

  • The insulating refractory is 13 ½′′ thick to reduce heat losses and increase operating efficiency. The refractory is installed as a continuous arch with proper expansion joints. The arch is the strongest possible refractory shape. The volume of refractory is less compared to a rectangular wall construction, minimizing the heat storage that must be supplied as the furnace is brought to operating temperature.

  • As well as providing uniform atmosphere circulation for convection heating, the cylindrical construction tends to focus the radiant energy stored in the refractory on the center of the work being heated.
Optional Features:
  • Electric or gas fired units.
  • Recuperators to achieve higher efficiency.
  • Atmosphere cooling vestibule with recirculating fan.
  • Air cooled heat exchanger for Quench oil.
