Hot Extruding with Hoesch Schwerter Profile GmbH During hot extrusion a round steel billet is pre-heated and, after leaving the furnace, is pushed through a forming die into a profile bar using a ram with an extrusion force of 2,200 t. Hot extrusion offers substantial advantages in comparison with hot rolling, forging or machining.
Hot extrusion can be used to make complex profile shapes even using metals which are difficult to form. In addition, small lot sizes can be produced economically.

Cold Drawing with Calvi Quantities The flexibility of CALVI’s production machinery allows efficient productions of special profiles even for small runs. On the other hand, large runs allow optimised set-up times for hot and cold working with consequent advantages in terms of cost-effectiveness.
Special profiles can be produced in various types of steel: Low and High carbon steel, case-hardening steel, medium-high alloy stainless steel, aerospace alloys; the range of materials which can be used depends solely on the limits imposed by the deformation properties of the actual steels. Special profiles are supplied in accordance with the standards requested by the customer: UNI - DIN - AISI - SAE - AFNOR - BS - JIS, etc.
Dimensional tolerances Special profiles can be produced with dimensional tolerances of ±0.10 mm, but they can reach a high level of accuracy, such as ISO h 9 and, when requested by the customer, accuracies up to ±0.02 mm.
Bar length Special profiles can be supplied in bars of different lengths up to a maximum of 10 metres; even on such lengths and with a reduced section, a very high degree of straightening is guaranteed. In many cases the above characteristics make a special profile the only possible solution.
