Acting as a value added assembler for major cell manufacturers (Sanyo, Kokam, Saft, etc.), Cell-Con provides custom battery packs assembled with lithium ion (Li-Ion), lithium polymer (Li-Poly), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), nickel cadmium (NiCd), sealed lead acid (SLA), lithium, alkaline, or silver oxide cell chemistries. Whether the pack is a smart (SMBus) assembly or a basic design, has low or high capacity specifications (in excess of 80Ah), in small or large production volume, a safe, reliable, and appropriate solution will be provided.

Less complex than a ′smart′ battery pack, yet still assembled to meet the specifications of the application. Standard assemblies typically include protection devices such as PTC′s, fuses, thermostats, and protection circuitry when lithium ion / polymer based cells are utilized.

As the demand for higher outputs and longer run time continues to increase, so does the demand for battery pack with higher capacity. Typically satisfied with lithium polymer assemblies, Cell-Con can provide a solution using cells with capacities up to 80Ah and greater.

Cell-Con assembles all of its packs at its facilities located in the United States. However, applications that require large production volumes, typically with price sensitive requirements, can be provided via our overseas partners. Rest assured, packs produced by our overseas partners are of the same quality and value as the packs produced domestically in lower volume.

Our extensive industry experience allows us to provide portable power solutions from the initial design phase of selecting the appropriate chemistry for the application, through development, and prototyping and into final production. If a custom enclosure is required, rely on our in house talent and the skills of our partners to provide a unique, cost effective design.

Cell-Con provides original equipment manufacturers with custom solutions to meet the challenging criteria of specific battery charging requirements. Both single and multi-position custom battery chargers are created when a standard, stocked charger will not fulfill the specific requirements of an application. Because of our extensive industry experience and dedicated team of experts, custom tailored charging solutions will be identified, developed, and delivered to meet the needs of the simplest design to those with complex specifications.

Using SMBus communication protocol, the system provides excellent performance in measuring voltage / current, accounting for the capacity of the pack, controlling charging / discharging FET’s, providing battery pack protection, and handling battery cell balancing functionality.

Measuring the total energy added to or removed from a battery, allowing accurate estimates of battery charge level.

Included within the charge circuitry is the capability to prevent battery packs from being over-charged, overdischarged, receiving excessive current, short circuits, and protection from temperature extremes.

During the charge process, each cell in the pack receives different rates of current. By doing so, each cell should reach the same relative full state of charge at the same time, resulting in a 15-20% increase in the overall usable capacity of the pack, and an improvement in the life of the battery.

Prevent unauthorized ‘after market’ products from being used in conjunction with the end product.

Incorporate the battery pack components with the battery charging circuitry in one complete package. This can be accomplished in a ‘soft pack’ form (shrink wrap), within a standard enclosure, or a custom designed solution.

If the end product requires a ‘drop in’ solution, or a design to fit within a specific footprint, we will provide an open frame charge board (no enclosure) or a tailored dimensional layout. Charge boards can be as small as 2” square.

Custom designs are provided when ‘off the shelf’ enclosures do not meet the requirements of the application, or when there is a need for a unique design. The collaboration of our in house talent and the skills of our partners result in a unique, cost effective enclosure design provided in a timely manner.

Applications requiring the charging of multiple battery packs simultaneously from one primary charging station. Designs of this type can be produced in an open frame form, provided in an existing enclosure, or completed in a custom built housing. Output connections are typically made with ‘pigtail’ cords, or via ‘drop and load’ pocket receptacles.
