Loose Tube Fiber OpticDouble Armored/Double Jacket
Application
This document specifies a loose tube cable, with a dielectric central member. The cable contains up to 36 tubes each tube contains up to 12 fibers. The cable is glass yarn reinforced. The jacket incorporates a inner PE layer, a steel tape armor, second PE layer, second steel tape armor and an outer UV resistant HDPE jacket. The cable is designed for outdoor applications, in ducts. The cable supplied in duct.

Construction
Up to 432 optical fibers are enclosed in PBT tubes. The tubes and fibers are color coded for easy identification (see paragraph 5 for details). The tubes are filled with a thixotropic gel to prevent the ingress of water. The tubes are SZ stranded around a dielectric central member. PE fillers are added when needed to form the rounded cable core. The interstices in the cable core are filled with a dry water swelling material to prevent water penetration. Water swelling glass yarn is laid over the tubes to serve as peripheral strength members. A Medium-Density Polyethylene inner jacket is extruded over the yarn. A corrugated steel tape is longitudinally applied over the inner jacket. A second MDPE jacket is applied over the steel tape. A second corrugated steel tape is longitudinally applied over the second MDPE jacket. The outer jacket, made of UV resistant HDPE, is extruded over the steel tape. Two ripcords are laid at 180o under each layer of the steel tape to facilitate the jacket removal. Another ripcord is laid under the inner jacket. The cable is threaded into black HDPE duct, with 4 red stripes on it.
Single Jacket Single Armored
Applications
Outdoor lashed aerial and duct; indoor when installed according to NEC® Article 770

Description
Single-Jacket/Single-Armor Cables are designed for direct-buried applications. The loose tube cable construction places varying numbers of fibers in each buffer tube. The loose tube design provides stable and highly reliable transmission parameters for a variety of voice, data, video and imaging applications. The design also provides high fiber density within a given cable diameter while allowing flexibility to suit many system designs.

Construction
Single-armor construction provides additional crush and rodent protection. High-strength ripcord under armor for ease of stripping. Waterblocking technology eliminates the need for traditional flooding compound. Available in 62.5 µm, 50 µm, single-mode and hybrid versions. Standard 3.0 mm buffer tube size reduces the number of access tools required by craftspersons. SZ-stranded, loose tube design isolates fibers from installation and environmental rigors and allows for easy mid-span access. Available with extended operating temperature to -60°C (-76°F). Medium Density Polyethylene jacket is rugged, durable and easy to strip. Available with Gigabit Ethernet performance.
