Air Duct Boards
Advantages of Air Duct Board Over Sheet Metal In A Low Pressure System
  1. Thermal performance assured through factory controlled molded thickness.
  2. Less leakage, 6% maximum generally much less (-1%).
  3. No expansion or contraction.
  4. Sound absorption excellent.
  5. Has a built-in vapor retarder.
  6. Easier and quicker to fabricate.
  7. Light weight
  8. Easier to handle and ship.
  9. Life expectancy in excess of 35 years.
  10. Self-insulating. No warm-up time required.
  11. Coefficient of friction less than sound lined duct.
  12. Alterations can easily be made in the shop or field, causing less waste.
  13. Machinery and tools cost less than sheet metal machinery and tools.
  14. Less shop space is required.
  15. Costs 6% less than conventionally fabricated uninsulated metal duct work.
  16. Costs 39% less than sound lined duct or externally insulated metal duct.
  17. Shop productivity on average is twice that of metal duct.
  18. Average field man-hours is 10% to 15% less than metal installation.
Board products
Fabricating Services, Inc. has been a distributor and fabricator of all types of thermal and acoustical insulation since 1989. When it comes to fiberglass, we offer our customers a vast array of insulation products from roll and batt material to laminations, encapsulations and die cutting.

Glass fiber boards can be used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications such as room partitions, wall panels and structural noise enclosures. They can be supplied either as plain fiberglass, fabric covered or with facings such as reinforced foil or black mat.
Fiberglass® 700 Series Insulations
These insulations are made of inorganic glass fibers with a thermosetting resin binder and formed into flexible, semi-rigid or rigid rectangular boards of varying densities. Types 703, 704 and 705 are available with factory-applied FRK or ASJ facings. Both facings are vapor retarders and provide a neat, finished appearance in mechanical applications.
Specialty Cutting
Custom cutting is our area of expertise at Fabricating Services. Our Ultra-Sonic Cutter is ideal for many low-density fabrics and specialty materials such as mica, Kevlar cloth, layered graphite, Nomex, as well as glass and carbon fiber. It is computer controlled so that its absolute position accuracy is repeatable to 0.008 inch. For high speed cutting, Fabricating Services utilizes the latest technology in die cutting machinery which provides dependable and accurately cut products time after time.
Specialty Sewing
Whatever your industry, Fabricating Services can provide unique sewing solutions to your specifications. We provide items such as custom transporters for automobile parts, heat shields for engines compartments, grill covers for outdoor ovens and sound covers for noisy air-conditioners or other appliances.
Specialty Materials
Fabricating Services has decades of experience locating just the right material for its customers needs. We use excellent high temperature fabrics and ceramic insulation for many of our customers as well as acoustical materials used heavily in the appliance industry. Let us find the best materials for your particular products.

QuietR Duct Board
Owens Corning QuietR™ Duct Board is a rigid, resin bonded fibrous glass board with a tough, damage-resistant, flame retardant, reinforced aluminum foil (FRK) facing. When fabricated into duct systems, it combines excellent thermal and acoustical insulting properties with substantially airtight transmission of air when all joints are sealed with UL 181A listed closures.

QuietR™ Duct Board features a durable mat air stream surface that isolates the glass fiber substrate from the airstream and inhibits penetration of the insulation by dirt, dust and other pollutants. This durable air stream surface makes it easy to clean the duct system using methods and equipment described in North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) Publication AH122, Cleaning Fibrous Glass Insulated Duct Systems, Recommended Practice.
