Fire Dampers UL Classified fire dampers constructed of galvanized steel with a 212 fusible link. These dampers can be mounted vertical or horizontal.
Fire Damper-Quickship-24 Hours UL classified fire dampers constructed of galvanized steel. These dampers are not stocked but will ship in 24 hours from factory.
Ceiling Radiation Damper National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 90A requires that openings in fire rated ceiling/floor assemblies must be protected by appropriately rated ceiling radiation dampers.
As a result, many local codes require that fans installed in fire rated ceilings must also be protected by dampers which are insulated against both heat and flame.
The Greenheck SP (60 Series) ceiling radiation damper option protects fire rated ceilings and effectively blocks the spread of heat and flames through the building′s ventilation system. This damper is U.L. Classified, rated at three to four hours fire resistance, and is available for SP fan sizes 50 through 1550. Its non-asbestos, ceramic blanket provides the required thermal barrier for fire rated ceilings while also protecting both the fan and the ductwork. The ceramic blanket stows compactly against the damper frame to permit maximum free area and eliminate performance losses.
Once the accumulation of heat in the airstream reaches the temperature limits of the fusible link, the closure mechanism is activated. Stainless steel closure springs draw the ceramic blanket securely over the damper opening. Standard fusible links activate at air temperatures of 165°F Other links are available.
The galvanized steel frame of the ceiling radiation damper is sized to match the Model SP housing. This design saves space by allowing the damper to mount directly beneath the fan. The damper adds approximately 3′′ in height to the combined installation.
