3M Particulate Respirators

Technologies/Freatures

The 3M line of particulate respirators can help you meet the requirements of OSHA 1910.134.  These filtering facepiece respirators have many features such as comfort, light weight materials, some have adjustable straps, and all provide economical protection.  Depending on your applications, you can select a respirator that offers the benefits and technologies that best meet your needs.

 

Use Limitations

  • These respirators do not supply oxygen.  Do not use in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen
  • Do not use when concentrations of contaminant′s are immediately dangerous to life and health, are unknown, or are greater than 10 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL), or exceed specific OSHA standards or applicable government regulations, whichever is lower
  • Do not alter, abuse or misuse these respirators
  • Do not use with beards or other facial hair or other conditions that prevent a good seal between the face and the face seal (or edge) of the respirator
  • N-Series filters cannot be used in environments containing oil R- and P-series can be used in oil and non-oil environments

 

Time Use Limitations

N-SERIES

If the resirator becomes damaged, soiled or breathing becomes difficult, leave the contaminated area immediately and dispose of the respirator.

R-SERIES

  1. If the respirator becomes damaged, soiled or breathing becomes difficult, leave the contaminated area immediately and dispose of the respirator
  2. If oil aerosols are present, time use may be limited to 8 hours of continuous or intermettent use.  Refer to NIOSH User′s Guide, Pub. No. 96-101

P-SERIES

  1. If the respirator becomes damaged, soiled or breathing becomes difficult, leave the contaminated area immediately and dispose of the respirator
  2. If Used in enviornments containing only oily aerosols, dispose of respirator or change filters after 40 hours of use or 30 days, whichever is first
