The Hydraulic Institute (HI), the pumps and pumping systems industry trade group, has opened up its membership qualifications to pump and supplier companies that manufacture wholly outside North America but sell into the North American market. HI says the move significantly expands membership opportunities globally.
“Expanding HI’s membership footprint beyond North America is a natural response to the global marketplace,” said Robert Asdal, the group’s executive director. “This move also aligns with HI’s vision to be a global authority on pumps and pumping systems.”
International members will be encouraged to participate in HI activities, including developing pump standards, guidebooks and educational materials; networking with North America industry counterparts; and participating in HI’s global statistics program and economic forecasts.
In coordination with the new membership opportunity, HI announced the first international members: Shinmaywa, from Japan, and two UK companies, Hayward Tyler plus Gilbert, Gilkes, and Gordon.
To deliver membership information and eligibility as well as more about the industry group, HI has developed an app for tablet devices. The app can be downloaded at Google Play Store and Apple iTunes by searching “Hydraulic Institute” or by visiting www.pumps.org/mobileapp.
HI is inviting prospective pump and supplier companies to attend its 2013 annual meeting in Fort Myers, Fla., Feb. 7-12. More on the meeting can be seen at www.pumps.org/13Annual.
