3M Displays New Depressed Center, Cut-Off Wheels for Portable Grinding at FABTECH

Among new products being shown at FABTECH 2012 in Las Vegas today through Wednesday is 3M’s Cubitron II depressed center and cut-off wheels for portable grinding applications. The Cubitron II T27 and T1 wheels feature a “precision-shaped grain” that is said to continuously fracture the wheel to form sharp points and edges for faster and cooler cutting and less operator fatigue.

The Cubitron II products are targeted at replacing aluminum oxide, zirconia and cermaic grain wheels, said to enable up to three times lower cutting pressure by the operator and increase productivity. The wheels are formulated for stainless steels and mild steels, and the cut-off wheels are said to provide twice the number of cuts compared with traditional wheels. 3M has also included quick-change wheels as part of the product line.
