Cortec Corp. has released a new machine tool liquid cleaner and degreaser designed to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable than traditional cleaning fluids.

The Eco-Line series of metalworking fluids provides corrosion protection for metalworking machines and workpieces. The fluid, which is 70 percent bio-based, is composed of a soybean derivative called soybean methyl esters. The methyl esters provide lubricity and biodegradability without the chlorine or preservative nitrite of traditional cleaners. Eco-Line provides a thin layer of protective VpCI corrosion resistance, Cortec’s proprietary corrosion protection technology.

The Eco-Line fluid can be used on a wide variety of metalworking and machine tools, such as rolling, grinding, extrusion, stamping, and cutting tools, as well as their workpiece. Cortec says the fluid can be used on machines that are expected to experience extended use.
