Schunk has released a new toolholding device intended to bridge a variety of different machining methods.
The Tendo E compact toolholder incorporates hydraulic expansion to safely transfer torques of up to 384 lb-ft with a 20-mm clamping diameter. It’s designed to work with high-volume cutting and operations such as milling, drilling and reaming, providing vibration damping and run-out accuracy of less than 0.003 mm. During countersinking and chamfering, the Tendo E compact also has high run-out accuracy.
The Tendo E compact enables operators to rapidly attach or remove tooling using an Allen key without peripheral equipment. The toolholder is also available in standard interfaces, such as HSK-A63, SK40, BT40, CAT40 and CAT50.
Schunk advertises tool cost reductions of up to 40 percent in roughing operations by increasing tool life through the Tendo E compact.
