AccuteX EDM is offering two new wire EDM machines, both of which will be on display at IMTS in September.
American Machinist profiles the SP-300iA 5-axis machine with “microsparking technology,” an AccuteX EDM technology that increases stability and energy savings. The unit features ball-retainer-type guideways for friction reduction. The working range of the X, Y and Z axes is 13.8 by 9.8 by 8.7 in, and the U and V axes are both 3.15 in. According to American Machinist, the axes are driven by closed-loop AC servo motors with 0.000004-in resolution and controlled by a linear glass scale feedback system.
The 3-axis EZ-53SA wire machine, meanwhile, offers X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 19.7, 11.8 and 7.1 in, respectively, plus an automatic wire threader and a Windows-based CE control, according to Modern Machine Shop. The publication notes that the machine on display will have an optional fourth-axis indexing capability.
