PRAB has developed a new filter designed to enable machinists to re-use spent oil and lubricants by removing debris during and after operations.
The PRAB Candle Filter is designed to remove particulate debris from spent oil and lubricants from EDM, tungsten carbide tool grinding, honing-machine and bearing grinding applications. It is rated to remove particulate grinding swarf as small as 1 micron with permanent membrane wafers. The Candle Filter uses automatic air pressure in a back flush cycle to process liquid through its wafers and then deposit usable liquid in easily accessible receptacles, while moving swarf and other debris into an external receptacle to ease clean-up and ensure environmental protections.
The Candle Filter is shaped like a cylinder through which liquid passes. The cylinder houses 10,000 thin wafers through which the liquid is sluiced, ensuring a high rate of filtration. The air-driven backwash system automatically pressurizes the tube and clears dirt and debris from the tube in rapid, constant cycles, allowing the Candle Filter to function during long production runs.
Additionally, PRAB offers an optional chiller system to keep lubricants at a constant temperature to further streamline operations and allow filtered lubricant to immediately cycle into use.
