Robotic Six-Axis Positioners Allow Nanometer-Precise Laser Machining

PI (Physik Instrumente) has introduced a new tool for laser machining in the form of the Hexapod precision positioner family that’s intended for submicron/nanometer-precise six-axis motion, the Engineer Source reports. The H-Series Hexapods join the SpaceFAB six-axis products as part of PI’s broad range of precision laser positioning products.

The H-Series positioners operate on six interconnected actuators, allowing for increased movement flow and smaller equipment compared with older stacked positioners. This enhanced motion control allows for a precision laser to operate on a submicron- or nanometer-precise pattern, all guided by advanced software that gives the user a range of complex movement options.

The motion controllers for the H-Series positioners are designed for Ethernet connectivity and iPad app control for seamless integration.
