Sandvik Coromant has released a host of toolholders with new nozzle technology designed to ensure pressure and stream accuracy for coolant delivery during machining operations.
Sandvik is introducing nozzles geared towards a range of coolant pressure requirements. They are equipped with stabilizing technology to lengthen tool life and assist in chip control.
The CoroTurn HP holders have high-precision nozzles designed for a wide range of pressures. The fixed-position nozzles are claimed to provide consistent, accurate coolant flow even at low pressures and enable users to rapidly change inserts during changeovers.
The toolholders can handle operations that require dispensing at 7-10 bar (100-150 psi). The nozzles address the problem of coolant flooding that can occur during machining and keep chip breaking and flow uninterrupted.
In operations requiring pressures in the 70-80 bar (1,000-1,200 psi) range, such as duplex stainless steel and heat-resistant super alloys, Sandvik offers SMC, MMC, and PMC insert holders. Sandvik says its Capto clamping units can also provide high pressures in the 150-200 bar (2,200-2,900 psi) range nozzles and holders. Standard holders for extremely high pressures, of around 275 bar, (3,900 psi) are also available.
