Schunk has released slimmed-down toolholder extensions designed for hard-to-reach machining operations.
The Tribos-SVL toolholder is available in a variety of clamping diameters from 1/8 to 3/4 in. in slim contours, but Schunk notes the device is reliable in high-precision machining operations in tough environments. The slim Tribos-SVL is designed to allowing machining on hard-to-reach workpieces, such as those with complex geometries. Schunk advertises the Tribos-SVL as providing run-out accuracy of less than 0.003 mm.
The extensions are compatible with a wide range of toolholders such as Tendo hydraulic expansion toolholders, Celsio heat shrink toolholders, collet toolholders and all other Schunk toolholders. Schunk notes that the Tribos-SVL is particularly complementary with the Tribos-R polygonal toolholders series, as both operate with a vibration damping system.
