New orders for machine tools dropped 0.6 percent in June to $462.95 million from May’s $465.54 million, according to the Association for Manufacturing Technology’s (AMT) U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) data. The USMTO report also shows a drop of 1.8 percent from the June 2011 figure of $471.49 million. However, the year-to-date total for machine tool orders is up to 8.8 percent over the first-half total for 2011.
