Sustainability, ever-rising fuel costs, and rapid transition to online communications and electronic invoicing/payments are just some movements reducing paper consumption. However, beyond communication paper, there are still some growth areas in packaging.
Within the recycled materials market, paper packaging is the largest segment, accounting for around 65 percent of all recycled packaging. Further improvements in paper recycling will help to grow the market.
The enhanced focus on supplier visibility and supply risk management is no doubt a big challenge for procurement, but with that challenge comes opportunities to build stronger and more collaborative organizations – and stronger and more collaborative relationships with suppliers. The focus is also a sign of procurement’s shift to providing additional value and supporting other business priorities.
