Coating pots are engineered for a zinc applications - including galvanize, Galvalume®, Galfan® & galvanneal - two types of coating pot technologies are available to meet different needs, & suit specific applications. Channel coating pots for galvanized, galvannealed & Galfan® coatings provide inductor refractory life for these coatings. Channel inductors contain induction coil assemblies & a magnetic core made of special transformer sheet laminations. Coreless coating pots are recommended when multiple alloy coatings are produced & particularly when producing Galvalume® coatings. The use of coreless pots eliminates the relatively frequent inductor changes associated with this coating. A patented coil design extends below the bottom of the bath to provide magnetic coupling with the metal. The entire inductor coil is enclosed in a heavy steel shell. Pot movement is accomplished by “Bogiesâ€� & “Lifts.â€� Channel & coreless coating pots can also be used for coating individual pieces in batch hot-dip galvanizing processes. Pre-melting pots are primarily used to provide all the energy needed to melt the metal needed to replenish the main coating pot. Launders are used to transport molten metal at the proper temperature from a pre-melt pot to the main coating pot by gravity flow. Coreless emergency holding pots consists of steel holding pot wrapped in a thermal blanket & air-cooled cables for short-term holding.
