In 1938 Earl Moreland recognized a need in the United States. The need for quality remanufactured compressors that would be equal to an original equipment manufactured (OEM) compressor, but at a fraction of the cost. He believed customers would find value in the fact of recycling used compressors and at the same time saving a lot of money. The only obstacle to overcome would be customers' perceived idea that remanufactured compressors quality is not equivalent to OEM compressors. He felt so strongly about the quality of the compressors he could manufacture that he attached the same warranty an OEM would place on their compressors. In 1938, City Compressor opened in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Earl worked hard for many years building close relationships with customers and mastering the process of Remanufacturing Compressors. In 1956, City Compressor was moved to Miami, Florida. In 1995, City Compressor purchased Raymond Services Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina. This location gave City Compressor the ability to ship most compressors the same day an order is placed, but also placed 56% of the US population within one days drive of our Charlotte facility. In keeping with our desire for quality and due to the increased manufacturing volume, in 2000 City Compressor built a new facility located just off I-77 in Charlotte. Within the past couple of centuries business has changed its position in the marketplace from a local standpoint to a national standpoint. Now as barriers are reduced and relationships are formed a global market is evolving in every industry. City Compressor is evolving with the times.
