George Steiner began selling electrical supplies in 1912. Within four years, he established a broad enough customer base to start his own electrical wholesale business located at 208 N. Fifth Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. George was convinced that it is always best to sell on the basis of quality and service, rather than on price alone, if the interests of the customer are to best served. That philosophy became the cornerstone for Steiner Electric Company, becoming one the most successful distributors in the midwest.
The company was passed on to Harold Kerman, George Steiner's son-in-law, who currently serves as Chairman and CEO. Today, the third generation, Richard (Rick) Kerman is President and COO. It is the spirit of family tradition through out the company and the vision of "uncompromising integrity, quality, and growth through dedicated people and resources" that has served Steiner so well. Employees, customers and suppliers all benefit from the philosophy of treating people the way you would want to be treated.
