Steel Bonded Carbide (SBC) materials provide wear resistance in severe operating conditions. The extremly fine grain, rounded titanium carbides (TiC) have a hardness value of 3300 Vickers - 35% higher More... than tungsten carbide. These titanium carbide grains are uniformly distributed through a hardenable metal matrix & provide a very low co-efficient of friction. The result is an engineered material that can be combined to provide optimum performance in high heat, corrosion or impact severe enviroments. SBC outlasts conventional tool steels by a factor of 10 while at the same time providing much better fracture toughness than a cemented tungsten carbide. Machine-able carbide. Once annealed, conventional metal cutting practices such as turning, milling & drilling can be applied. In the heat treated state hardness values of Rc 71 can be achieved. In fact, materials can be re-annealed, re-worked & re-hardened without any detrimental effect on the material. True metal matrix composite that is hot ISO-statically pressed (HIP) to full density. Because of its unique properties is ideal for many metal forming applications & includes high wear inspection gauges, rotating face seals, pelletizing knives, rod & tube rolls & boring bars. Offered as blanks in the form of rounds, squares & rectangles as well as parts finished machined & heat treated complete to print. When polished, surface finishes of 0.5 microinches are consistently achieved. Less

About Pacific Sintered Metals Co. from http://www.pacificsintered.com

Since 1956, Pacific Sintered Metals has been a family business centered on one creative vision...to provide the widest range of solutions in parts fabrication through P/M technology. Today, PSM sits on a seven-acre campus in the heart of Los Angeles. From its humble beginning, PSM took advantage of breakthrough technology in metal fabrication and helped develop the technology into the powerhouse process it represents today. Today, PSM manufactures a wide variety of precision-engineered P/M parts through its four operating divisions. More...

PSM has become a world leader in design and engineering solutions for powdered metal fabrication. We have learned how to take advantage of every related technology, how to utilize a broad range of options to bring our customers the rarest of all commodities in production: peace-of-mind.

That's why smart engineers we've worked with over the years know that by bringing their challenges to PSM, their visions have a better chance of seeing daylight. They recognize that if anyone can find a solution, it's PSM. Less
