Engine Development Sensor Has High Sensitivity
Amherst , NY (May 4, 2008) - A new pressure sensor for engine research advances the state-of-the-art in simplified, exacting measurement performance from Kistler Instrument. The piezoelectric sensor type 6045A is designed around a unique PiezoStar® crystal element which has a sensitivity of -45 pC/bar. This higher level signal reduces data compromising effects and eases signal conditioning. The crystal element output remains linear at elevated temperatures by resisting thermal influences thus...

Monitoring Sensor with Ground Isolation and Current Output
In large engines, there are often distances of up to 30 meters between the location of the combustion pressure sensor and the evaluation electronics. If both the sensor and the evaluation electronics are connected to ground, high ground loop currents can flow between these two grounding points. As a result, the analog output signal of the sensor will be superimposed with strong interference signals.

10 Years of Crystal Growth at Kistler Marked by Commissioning of Third In-House Facility
Kistler commissioned its third plant for growing piezoelectric crystals at the beginning of this year. This capacity boost represents the response of the specialist in piezoelectric measure-ment of pressure, force, torque and acceleration to the burgeoning demand for sensors with PiezoStar® crystals. These crystals, which Kistler has now been producing itself for more than ten years, have very special property profiles.

Strain Transmitter Protects Injection Molds
Amherst, NY (August 21, 2007) - A new strain transmitter from Kistler Instrument, Type 9238A... is designed to sense the impact of mold clamping in injection molding machines. The new transmitter protects from over clamping of the mold halves. The sensor operates in the molding machine control system to limit the force that drives the mold platens together. Thus mold damage and potential damage to mold auxiliaries is eliminated.
