News & Press Releases
  1. June 10, 2008 — New Crank Angle Encoder Set Type 2614A
Crank angle encoder set Type 2614A provides the reference for all measurements related to the crank angle. It is used wherever this angle is required for calculating combustion analysis parameters.
  2. May 14, 2008 — Strain Sensor Has High Flexibility
Amherst, NY (May 5, 2008) - A new generation of strain transmitters with exceptional adaptation benefits for process monitoring is announced by Kistler Instrument Corp. Combining an advanced digital charge amplifier in a compact sensor housing the type 9238 enables extremely easy adjustment to processing operations. Integral electronics enables programming sensor sensitivities by new ManuWare(TM) software that matches Kistler sensors to Kistler signal conditioners or process monitors. Other...
  3. May 9, 2008 — Engine Development Sensor Has High Sensitivity
Amherst , NY (May 4, 2008) - A new pressure sensor for engine research advances the state-of-the-art in simplified, exacting measurement performance from Kistler Instrument. The piezoelectric sensor type 6045A is designed around a unique PiezoStar® crystal element which has a sensitivity of -45 pC/bar. This higher level signal reduces data compromising effects and eases signal conditioning. The crystal element output remains linear at elevated temperatures by resisting thermal influences thus...
  4. May 5, 2008 — Monitoring Sensor with Ground Isolation and Current Output
In large engines, there are often distances of up to 30 meters between the location of the combustion pressure sensor and the evaluation electronics. If both the sensor and the evaluation electronics are connected to ground, high ground loop currents can flow between these two grounding points. As a result, the analog output signal of the sensor will be superimposed with strong interference signals.
  5. March 24, 2008 — 10 Years of Crystal Growth at Kistler Marked by Commissioning of Third In-House Facility
Kistler commissioned its third plant for growing piezoelectric crystals at the beginning of this year. This capacity boost represents the response of the specialist in piezoelectric measure-ment of pressure, force, torque and acceleration to the burgeoning demand for sensors with PiezoStar® crystals. These crystals, which Kistler has now been producing itself for more than ten years, have very special property profiles.
  6. October 1, 2007 — Kistler Announces New 4-Channel PiezoSmart ® IEPE TEDS Programmable Signal Conditioner, Type 5134B
Amherst, NY (August 27, 2007) - The 5134B is the new Piezosmart® programmable TEDS signal conditioner for IEPE sensors. The 5134B is housed in a standard 14E wide, 3U high Euro-cassette and has front panel LEDS to indicate the status of each channel. The signal conditioner is adjusted either using the LCD-Front Panel controls or with PC programmability with the USB Interface. Each channel can be configured with Gain, Filtering, Current Level and Time Constant.
  7. September 14, 2007 — Strain Transmitter Protects Injection Molds
Amherst, NY (August 21, 2007) - A new strain transmitter from Kistler Instrument, Type 9238A... is designed to sense the impact of mold clamping in injection molding machines. The new transmitter protects from over clamping of the mold halves. The sensor operates in the molding machine control system to limit the force that drives the mold platens together. Thus mold damage and potential damage to mold auxiliaries is eliminated.
  8. June 21, 2007 — Force Limited Vibration Test on ESA Satellites
Kistler has played its part in European space technology for quite some time - the most recent at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
  9. June 1, 2007 — New Universal Glow Plug Sensor Simplifies Indicator Measurements
Kistler is now offering the Type 6056A... pressure sensor for use in glow plug adapters. This new highly precise M5 size sensor with its tried-and-tested measuring element has a miniaturized plug connection to permit installation deep inside the glow plug adapter. Thanks to this innovation, many different glow plug adapters can be fitted with a single type of standard-length pressure sensor.
  10. March 30, 2007 — Mini PiezoStar®, High Temp IEPE, Center-Hole Accelerometer, Type 8715A...
The Type 8715A5000M5 and TEDS version Type 8715A5000T are new IEPE PiezoStar Single Axis, Center Hole Accelerometers. The low mass low profile, hermetic accelerometer features a 5-44 side connector and integral ground isolation. The sensor construction utilizes shear cut PiezoStar crystals and high temperature internal microelectronics impedance converter to achieve industry leading temperature stability. The accelerometer provides high measurement resolution with over 100 dB of dynamic range.
