Littelfuse Introduces the World's Smallest Protection Thyristor: The TeccorŽ Q2L Series QFN (Quad Flatpak No-lead) SIDACtorŽ Device

New RoHS compliant device delivers industry leading telecom protection in a Chip Scale Package size.

Shindengen Introduces the G1V Series of Sidacs Designed for Pulse Generating Circuits Including Gas Spark Ignitors

Camarillo, CA: Shindengen America Inc. introduces the G1V series of Sidacs designed for pulse generating circuits. The G1V series Sidac is a unidirectional device that offers small size in a cost effective package. VBO ratings are available from 75-90v to 210-230v. The G1V offers a low cost alternative to bi-directional devices.

RKC Instrument Announces THV Thyristor Series with LED Display

SOUTH BEND, IN - RKC Instrument announces the THV, a new compact microprocessor based SCR power controller providing higher performance at a lower cost. The THV features programming keys and a digital display on the front, responds quickly to setting input changes in fast response applications, and offers programmable phase control or zero-cross control. Set values and input signals can be checked and monitored easily by the front digital display keys but can also be made with an external setting unit like a variable resistor.

Does Size Really Matter?

An exploratin of the utilization of a single higher energy rated MOV vs. paralleling multimple lower energy MOVs, by Littelfuse.

Using Thermally Protected MOVs in TVSS or Power Supply Applications

Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) are commonly used for transient over-voltage suppression in many applications such as: Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (TVSS), Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), AC Power Taps, AC Power Meters or other products. The UL1449 standard clearly defines abnormal over-voltage, limited current test conditions. The intent of this paper is to outline these conditions, explore the use of MOVs in combination with a TCO (Thermal Cut-Off or Thermal Cut-Out) device, and compare performance with a thermally self-protected MOV technology. Graphs depicting the Epoxy temperature of MOVs without thermal protection will be shown along with a MOV/TCO combination and the internally protected MOV.
