Historical Lighting

Publisher: Holophane
Overview:
In landscape designing, many designers use historically styled lighting as a design element as well as a source of illumination to create a safe and secure environment after dark. This paper explores the advantages of using diverse fixtures that allow replicating any period of time or complementing any architectural style. While it presents a case study of the city of Milwaukee, the experience of Kentucky in replicating the '40s is also documented. It also describes the process of lighting a historic landmark for the city of Old State Capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky through historically styled luminaires. A picture of a landscape created through historical lighting is also provided.
