Publisher: Bayer Corp.
Overview:
Performance properties and productivity advantages of a fast-curing two-coat polyurethane paint system used to repaint the bridges on US Routes 30 and 62 over I-77 in Canton, Ohio, are described in this paper. Benefits offered by the high solids zinc-load primer and the aliphatic polyurethane topcoat in terms of reduction in painting completion time, chemical resistance, and color and gloss retention are highlighted, while guidelines for utilizing a rapid deployment painting approach are given, listing the safeguards to be followed and the equipment needed for such operations. Surface preparation methods, and coating procedure for rapid deployment are explained, providing a list of required coating materials and acceptable manufacturers.
