Overview:
Rapid Deployment painting method, which was adopted for repainting two overpass bridges near Somerser, PA., is described in this paper. Rapid deployment approach offers increased productivity, decreased traffic interruptions, and low costs by conducting the entire coating process on a fully contained, rapidly deployable trailer-mounted work platform. Performance properties and productivity advantages of the fast-drying, moisture-cured polyurethane coating system used for the repainting project are described, listing the materials used in the two-coat polyurethane system. Surface preparation procedures including blast cleaning and chloride removal, are detailed, listing the painting equipment used. This paper also explains the coating process and states the various environmental factors to be considered while applying the coatings.
