Adhering to Difficult Substrates with Silicone Adhesives Publisher: NuSil Technology LLC Overview: An evaluation of the adhesion strength of silicone adhesives on various substrates is presented in this paper, which aims at narrowing the choice of adhesives based on the substrates to be bonded. Various substrates chosen for testing, their surface energy properties, and common applications are explained with the help of illustrations. Teh various benefits of using different primers to treat substrates for enabling better adhesion is highlighted, primer application methods, application considerations, and curing mechanism are described in detail. Parameters utilized for testing the substrates are elaborated, and test results are given in tabular format. A graphical representation of the mean lap-shear results of the tested substrates is also featured in this paper.
