Publisher: Belden, Inc.
This paper discusses the ANSI/TIA/EIA-569-A (CSA T530) standard which provides design specifications and guidance for building facilities relating to telecommunications cabling systems and components. The location and the components of an Entrance Facility and the design considerations and sizing issues of an Equipment Room are outlined. Inter-Building Pathways such as underground, direct-buried, aerial, and tunnel backbone pathways are overviewed. The design and components of vertical and horizontal backbone pathways of intra-building pathways are explained. The paper reviews the design, size, and spacing considerations of Telecommunication Room. Besides the horizontal pathways from the work area outlet to the telecommunications room that paper also provides a list and brief description of pathways recognized by the ANSI/TIA/EIA-569-A (CSA T530) standard. Recommendations for work areas covering specifications for telecommunications pathways and telecommunications outlets are elaborated. Six addenda to ANSI/TIA/EIA-569-A on Surface Raceways, Furniture Pathways and Spaces, Access Floors, Poke-Thru fittings, Underfloor Pathways, Multi-Tenant Pathways and Spaces are explained. The report also describes ANSI/TIA/EIA-607 (CSA T527) standard which covers grounding and bonding requirements.
