Overview: Design specifications and functions of UltraVolt "C" Series HVPSs (high-voltage power supplies) are presented in this paper in addition to a brief description of "A" Series units. It reviews the DC and AC feedback loops, current-limit circuits, filter capacitance capabilities, and DC-bias applications of "C" Series units. A diagrammatic representation of the HVPS connections and grounding layout is included, and the usage of enable/disable feature is explained in detail. Method of measuring the rise times is analyzed with the help of formulas. The paper also studies the high current pulsed applications of the "C" Series units, and illustrates the use of energy-storage capacitor and isolation resistor for controlling pulse droop during high-discharge current conditions.
