Sizing Pneumatic Cylinders and ISO Valves

Publisher: Parker Hannifin Corp.
Overview:
Methods for calculating capacity coefficients for sizing pneumatic cylinders and ISO valves are presented in this paper. Mathematical formulas for calculating the capacity coefficient are explained in detail, providing a list of nomenclature used in the formulas. A table of data containing the capacity coefficient values for two-position ISO valves is included, along with tabular data to chart flow requirements based on cylinder size and average rod speed. This document also provides a table listing the compression ratios as well as values for the constant A for a range of inlet pressures and pressure drops.
