Publisher: Shakespeare Composite Structures
Overview:
This white paper focuses on the quality aspects of Shakespeare Composite Structures fiberglass-reinforced composite poles, which are resistant to rot, rust, and extreme temperatures, and meet lighting, distribution, and transmission needs. It presents the results of wind velocity and lateral load deflection tests performed the poles, along with graphs representing the test result. A map showing maximum expected wind velocities in the U.S., along with data on Isotachs of extreme mile at 30 feet above ground is included. The poles are tested under temperatures ranging from room temperature to -425 °F, and obtained results are plotted as graphs to demonstrate the percentage of strength increase of poles in cold air. The paper also contains the results of weathering tests conducted by exposing the poles to a combination of sunlight, UV rays, and moisture conditions.
