Overview: Details of the Lean manufacturing program developed by CMTC for R&D Fasteners to help them realize increased sales and improved scheduling support are presented in this case study. Objectives of the project are stated, describing how CMTC's training and assistance helped R&D Fasteners to develop a quality management system that is registered as ISO 9001:2000 and is in compliance with MIL-I-45208A. The dramatic improvements in the organization and product flow realized on the shop floor due to the implementation of lean processes are highlighted, stating how training on Made2Manage (M2M) Scheduling and Shop Floor Control system improved work prioritization. The paper also illustrates the projected increase in annual sales and increase in on-time deliveries resulting from the implementation of lean manufacturing.
