Considerations for Adding Linear Guide Features to Industrial Equipment

Overview:
Stating that several factors should be considered while adding a linear guide feature to a piece of industrial equipment, this paper briefs about its considerations by exploring conventional methods, and newer alternatives that could offer advantages to the assembly. It presents T-slot profile extrusions that permits quick and easy assembly as the most commonly used extrusions for constructing industrial equipment, and briefly overviews the construction and features of profile rails, plain and linear bearings along with their mounting characteristics and requirements. Figures illustrating round rail, and single-edge and double-edge track are included in it. The paper explains that a new linear guide alternative called QuickTrack could be used in any industrial equipment requiring linear guide features, with a detailed design process and advantages, and concludes that cost and difficulty of system development can be reduced by properly selecting the linear motion product.
