Highlighting that pressure transducers are being used in marine sector from fuel tanks to bilges, this paper details how construction of sensor diaphragm and electronics package will help the pressure transducer work reliably and accurately under a wide range of operating conditions. It highlights that in marine applications pressure transducers are ship-wide and can function under harsh conditions, and adds sputtered thin film technology, chemical vapour deposition (CVD), and ASIC (application specific integrated circuits) electronic packaging are the three integral factors for the success of latest transducers. Also explained is the construction and working of pressure transducers with their advantages. The paper states that by combining sensitive pressure sensing elements with a sophisticated electronic package, response to change in pressure have been measured at 1 msec, with zero drift over time sensor accuracy.
