Helium or Air? Leak Testing Realities, Economics and Opportunities - Consider these Variables When Weighing Your Leak Testing Options

Publisher: InterTech Development Co.
Overview:
Highlighting that advanced technologies in leak testing which could replace helium systems are providing opportunities for improving quality and saving money, this paper points that importance for choosing the best leak testing method for a given application has grown. The paper explains about some of the most common ways of leak testing such as mass flow, pressure decay, helium mass spectrometry, and dunk testing, and adds the variables which are to be considered while selecting a best method. It presents mass flow leak testers with advanced sensors which could measure the leaks as small as 0.01 sccm, as the most efficient testers by providing high measurement accuracy, without the need of helium or associated costs and complications. It concludes that in order to attain maximum efficiency in any leak testing system, consulting a test specialist with relevant experience, along with feasibility study would be best option.
