A Wisconsin manufacturer of aluminum and copper-based alloy castings has announced its acquisition of fellow castings maker Wabash Castings.
Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry (WAF), which employs more than 400 workers at its facility in Manitowoc, said the addition of Wabash, based in its namesake Indiana city, would accelerate its growth in numerous sectors, particularly consumer goods and electric vehicles.
"Wabash Castings is renowned for their ability to produce high-volume, complex castings," WAF CEO Sachin Shivaram said in a statement. "Their facility forms a perfect complement to our existing breadth of production lines."
WAF officials said the company would retain Wabash's existing facility, brand name, and approximately 100-employee workforce. Wabash employees, the company added, should expect expanded benefits and a wage increase for many positions.
Wabash city officials hailed the purchase and said WAF would bring stability and economic diversity to the small city about 80 miles north of Indianapolis.
"I look forward to working with their team and helping them out in every way possible to make Wabash Castings a premier employer in our city," Mayor Scott Long said in the announcement.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
