At Techmetals, we provide onsite, Nadcap approved non-destructive testing (NDT). Our facility houses three magnetic particle inspection benches that accommodate parts up to 144” long and one dye penetrant inspection bench that accommodates both water-soluble and More... non-aqueous developers for indication. Using these NDT test methods, we identify and measure any imperfection that might be present before parts are integrated into the end-use application. NDT techniques are efficient, affordable, and do not damage the part, so it retains usability. With our NDT services, we ensure critical parts meet quality standards. We check for stress corrosion cracks, fatigue cracks, and crack that may have occurred during heat-treating or grinding. Along with cold shut surface faults, porosity, and other discontinuities, we use NDT to examine surfaces for lack of fusion in welded joints, forging laps, and other irregularities. We test parts of all shapes and sizes and offer ID and OD test capabilities. Our highly trained technicians are certified to NDT Level II and perform testing with Level III oversight as required. They have extensive experience in NDT test methods and interpreting results. We offer NDT for industries such as aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, and other industries where part reliability is of paramount importance, and failure cannot be tolerated. We also carry out NDT as an integral part of equipment repair diagnostics and preventive maintenance programs. To learn more about our NDT test capabilities or to make an inquiry, contact us directly. Less
At Techmetals, one of the buildings on our expansive campus houses a walk-in blast booth that provides a highly controlled environment for media blasting. Blasting is useful for removing rust and corrosion and preparing and profiling surfaces for coating. We blast any object that fits inside the 10’ long x 10’ wide x 10’ high blast room. We offer glass bead blasting, where we shoot a high-pressure stream of reusable glass media that removes burrs and cleans and polishes metal substrates without causing any dimensional changes. We also use glass bead blasting to modify mechanical properties by adding a compressive stress layer. For applications with excessive heat-scale build-up, aluminum oxide grit is and effective choice for cleaning and preparing surfaces. Sandblasting is also an effective surface prep method for removing dirt, mill scale, oil, and other contaminants. Many sizes and shapes of each medium are available, and each offers advantages for specific types of metals and alloys. Walk-in blasting is an integral part of our end-to-end metal finishing services. With our ability to clean, plate, coat, grind, and polish metal parts, we make metal finishing affordable and convenient. All of our services comply with stringent industry standards, and we develop finishing solutions that align with application-specific requirements. Product Information

TM 117C is a high phosphorus electroless nickel (9%+) coating with a codeposit of PTFE. This non-magnetic coating provides a very accurate and hard surface - with excellent resistance to adhesive wear and release properties.
Aluminum anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts aluminum into a durable, corrosion resistant, anodic oxide finish. The metal substrate is considered the "anode" in this electrolytic process, which is why we use the term anodizing. An electrical current is passed between the metal and a cathode - usually flat, aluminum bars in a sulfuric acid bath - producing an anodic oxide.
Physical vapor deposition - also known as PVD coating - refers to a variety of thin film deposition techniques where solid metal is vaporized in a high vacuum environment and deposited on electrically conductive materials as a pure metal or alloy coating.
Electropolish (EP) is an electrochemical etching and passivation process Techmetals which uses to deburr, smooth and brighten stainless steel (and aluminum) parts. This process is common in the medical industry, where tools and equipment require a smooth, clean finish. Our company offers solutions in our biobrite electropolishing - which is validated medical grade.
An electrolytic nickel deposit of the purest nickel providing a soft, ductile coating of approximately 20 Rockwell C hardness. TM 109 has outstanding corrosion resistance, solderability, magnetic characteristics and resists oxidation at high temperatures. This coating is primarily used in salvage of worn or mis-machined parts and is especially useful on those requiring a heavy build-up of material.
TM 111 electroless nickel (EN) with a hard chrome deposit overlay, offers the best qualities of each in a single coating solution. The top, hard chrome layer has a hardness of 67 Rockwell C and a very low coefficient of friction. This provides excellent wear properties for the finished part.
TM 121 is a chromium deposit offering a good corrosion resistance. Standard hard chrome has approximately 200 to 400 cracks per linear inch, allowing corrosive material through to attack the base metal. TM 121 crack-free chrome is generally used as a barrier coating - helping reduce these imperfections. It's finish is softer and more ductile than standard hard chrome.
Hard chrome is one of the most reliable and widely used metal plating processes in the industry. Typically used to help resistance to abrasion and corrosion, industrial chrome also helps improve a part's wear.
Laser Etching is a process by which the outer layer of a metal substrate is vaporized. This process delivers little to no depth being removed from the part, yet provides a high contrast marking - easily visible to the naked eye if desired. The medical industry requires such marking for tracking, customer information and part numbers.
Cadmium plating is an attractive, soft coating that can be deposited on various base materials, up to and including steels, copper and different types of iron. Known as one of the few deposits that is sacrificial, this coating excels in corrosion protection.
Industry specifications that are most often provided by Techmetals. We also offer metal plating solutions to additional specifications such as AMS, MIL, ASTM, SAE and customer specifications. Techmetals also offers R&D, optical coatings, medical coatings, large ID and OD grinding and areas with 20-ton capacities.
Diamonize plus is a hard uniform coating with a low coefficient of friction as needed per application. Techmetals can use this technology to attain a grit-like texture, to improve wear or gripping. The differences in the coefficient of friction are achieved by changing the shape and size of the particles. 2 micron to 20 micron sizes expertly applied.
